Summary:

Responsible for defining and driving the data architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and establishing the best data management and governance practices. This leader will play a critical role in shaping our data landscape, driving innovation, and ensuring effective data management practices.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and evolve the enterprise data strategy and target state architecture to support delivery of business objectives
  • Ensure alignment and drive advancement of enterprise roadmap towards the target state architecture in alignment with enterprise Technology strategy
  • Support the advancement of standard methodologies and core principles around data governance to enable alignment with long term objectives
  • Provide technical oversight to solution delivery in creating business driven solutions adhering to the enterprise architecture and data governance standards
  • Advocate for the advancement of our AI/ML and GenAI capabilities in support of business opportunities (data products, underwriting, etc)
  • Build strong working relationships with architects and delivery leaders in across data and application organizations
  • Lead a team of enterprise data architects and work successfully across organizational boundaries
  • Advocate for the adoption of modern data-centric technologies & techniques with teams across NM to improve access and quality of data

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience architecting, designing and developing large-scale data solutions using relational and non-relational technologies for both operational and analytical purposes
  • Deep expertise and understanding of modern data, Generative AI and cloud technology required
  • Experience driving technology modernization from on prem to cloud strongly preferred
  • Extensive data modeling experience with operational and analytical data stores
  • Deep understanding of data governance principles and standard methodologies, ability to apply a practical approach to driving data governance maturity
  • Experience using AI/ML models to drive recommendation engines or other data products
  • Demonstrable ability to drive broad enterprise alignment and the successful implementation of impactful technology solutions
  • Proven track record in driving enterprise-wide data initiatives, leveraging advanced analytics, and delivering innovative data solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization.

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$183,680.00

Pay Range - End:

$341,120.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
