Job Description
Role Purpose
This professional will perform ASHRAE level 1 and 2 energy audits, retro commissioning and commissioning studies, building automation system optimization projects, and other technical surveys and assessments. The candidate should be able to perform these studies with limited oversight and competent knowledge of energy efficient operation of building mechanical systems, control systems, lighting systems, building envelopes, and other energy-related systems. This role will require significant travel, estimated to be up to 50%.

This is a remote position and can be located anywhere in the U.S.

What this job involves

Key responsibilities include:

Energy Auditing
Identify energy conservation measures, calculate savings and costs following industry standards to recommend capital projects and operational improvements.
Deliver audit reports within specified timelines.
Review utility data trends and building automation system trends to benchmark and target investigation of potential energy conservation measures.
Lead identification and prioritization of energy capital projects, operational changes and central plant upgrades that result in reduced energy consumption. This may include HVAC, lighting, building envelope, demand response, plug loads, distributed generation (solar, fuel cells, cogeneration), and evaluation of new technologies and services.
Conduct ASHRAE Level 1 and 2 energy audits and walkthroughs

Retrocommissioning and Commissioning
Identify energy conservation measures through onsite assessments and review of building automation system sequence of operations
Develop commissioning plans and other commissioning documentation, and perform functional testing of equipment during site visits
Review engineering designs and recommend areas for improved energy efficiency and building performance
Test mechanical, electrical, and other energy-related systems to ensure design intent is met, utilizing building automation system to maximum extent feasible
Maintain commissioning issues log and provide reporting detailing issues identified with estimated costs and savings for corrections
Conduct field tests to measure air flows, pressures, temperatures, etc.
Provide project management for all commissioning activities

Collaboration
Works with building staff (facility managers, engineers, technicians) in identifying, scoping, and implementing energy efficiency improvements
Collaborate with other Jones Lang LaSalle energy and sustainability managers to share and learn best practices and publish case studies of successful initiatives. Leverage JLL experts in renewable energy, energy supply procurement, and building intelligence tools to meet client goals.
Continually monitor industry trends, evaluate new products and services for potential, and participate in industry working groups.
Establish a positive rapport with both JLL and client staff and management to ensure a high level of customer service.

Requirements
Sound knowledge of energy principles and concepts related to the built environment, specifically mechanical and electrical systems
BS in engineering (electrical, mechanical, industrial, civil)
5+ years of experience with energy auditing, commissioning, retro-commissioning, energy management, performance contracting or energy engineeringKnowledge of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, building automation and control systems across a variety of building types including commercial offices, manufacturing, and datacenters. Ability to perform energy analysis and efficiency calculations independently with limited instruction and oversight. Experience evaluating energy savings projects with large central plants including boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers and load side management
Ability to navigate a building automation system using the graphical user interface (GUI) to assess operating conditions for savings opportunities
Ability to communicate to facility / controls technician to capture trend data needed for analysis and to verify sequences of operation
Familiarity with ASHRAE Standards 90.1, 62.1 and 55.1

Engineer in Training (EIT/ FE) and/or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) highly desired. LEED accreditation and Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to interface seamlessly with all levels of management. Comfortable working in virtual environments with remote teams
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, online software platforms, with the ability to use spreadsheets and data analysis applications
Takes initiative with limited directions and acts as a team player with ability to bring alternate points of view to the discussion and analysis.
Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills
Ability to multi-task and effectively organize responsibilities with sound project management and leadership skills
Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service
