MUST:
Experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist - CRNA
1 plus years of experience
Must be Certified by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists
Must hold current CPR and ACLS certifications
Must be a Registered Nurse Licensure in Virginia
Must have graduate of an accredited school for Nurse Anesthetists

DUTIES:
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Assist in performing and documenting a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient, including gathering data, requesting consultations and diagnostic studies; selecting, obtaining, ordering, and administering pre-anesthetic medications and fluids; initiating venous access and obtaining informed consent for anesthesia.
Develop a comprehensive anesthetic plan.
Implement an anesthetic plan by selecting and administering the anesthetics, adjuvant and accessory drugs, and fluids necessary to manage the anesthetic.
Initiate the anesthetic technique which may include: general, regional, local, and sedation.
Select, apply, and insert appropriate non-invasive and invasive monitoring modalities for continuous evaluation of the patient's physical status.
Manage patient's airway, cardiac and pulmonary status using current practice modalities and guidelines.
Facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia by selecting, ordering and administering medications, fluids, and ventilatory support.
Implement appropriate post-operative pain management.
Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids and drugs, and using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
Perform patient assessment to ascertain appropriate recovery room placement.
Collaborate with the anesthesia team in developing and periodically reviewing protocols / procedures relevant to department functioning.
Participate in monitoring quality of care according to professional standards and established criteria.
Performs other related duties as directed and as appropriate to scope of practice.
