Job Description

Randolph-Macon College, a liberal arts institution of 1,500 undergraduate students, located in Ashland, Virginia, seeks a talented, innovative, and experienced enrollment professional for the position of Asst. Director of the Office of International Education. The Assistant Director oversees the support systems for RMC international students, oversees all aspects of the advising and application processes for students interested in study abroad, and participates in general management activities for the College's Office of International Education.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the college's Office of Admissions to identify and support international students during their college application process.
  • Provides holistic support and academic advising for international students through new student orientation, workshops and other personalized communication throughout all phases of their study abroad experience in the U.S.
  • Oversees the internal and external long-term study abroad application and scholarship processes and assist both short-term and long-term students throughout all phases of students' study abroad experience, including students' academic/financial needs, health/safety support, travel/entry requirements (passports, visas, etc.), credit permissions, and pre-departure/reentry (pre & post-program orientation and programming, etc.)
  • Manages the vetting and evaluation processes of a selective set of locations to accommodate different student needs by working with relevant campus and external partners; works collaboratively with study abroad returnees and other appropriate internal and external partners on marketing and outreach efforts;
  • Assists with the administration of short-term study abroad programs, including internships, summer study/travel options, and the January Term.
  • With the Director of OIE, efficiently manages the financial resources available and ensures risk and crisis management plans to support international students and to send students abroad;
  • Works collaboratively with the Director of OIE, as well as internal and external partners, to identify and advocate for a strategic vision for campus internationalization efforts.
  • Collaborates with the Director of OIE as well as internal and external partners to assess OIE programs and services and to produce assessment reports as needed.

Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in International Education or related field required, or a Bachelor's Degree in related field and relevant experience that equates to an advanced degree is required.
  • A minimum of two years' experience working in higher education setting.
  • Working knowledge of a second language preferred.
  • Website development and graphic design skills preferred.
  • Experience with event planning, implementation and evaluation preferred.
