As a Field Service Technician, you will execute Service work according to agreed workflows and in accordance with ABB standard processes and safety guidelines. You will deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers. In close co-operation with customer and other ABB teams, you will take actions to identify new Service business opportunities for ABB.

Your responsibilities

  • Apply safety rules and safe practices as well as environmental responsibilities, reporting unsafe practices and incidents.
  • Contribute to customer satisfaction by planning and executing Service work according to customer order and expectation.
  • Clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in the direct area of responsibility.
  • Ensure customer retention by delivering superior customer experiences and effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations.
  • While on-site, work with the customer to identify opportunities for improving the customers operations and eliminating pain points, utilizing the local practices for notifying the account team of opportunities.
  • Perform field service tasks, identify technical problems and make analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products for which you are certified to perform.
  • Coach associate technicians and associate engineers.
  • Prepare material lists needed for service activity and ensure that all materials, parts and equipment are available and at the appropriate quality for Service activities.
  • Prepare all documents and customer reports to be signed by the customer representative utilizing all relevant tools.
  • Report work done in a timely manner and follow up when needed.
  • Troubleshoot Equipment/Process failures and request proactive corrective actions and makes recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future.
  • Proactively plan and execute work on a first-time right approach with customers, ensuring the job is done on time and on quality.
  • Identify improvement needs and potential solutions for them in the way of working.
  • Provide technical guidance to associates and act as trainer when needed, for field service associates and customers.
Your background

  • Require High school Diploma with 2 years technical/electrical experience or relevant military experience.
  • Experience with 3 phase power distribution equipment.
  • DC Battery experience (540v DC)
  • Travel up to 80% of the time for work.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
